True to some degree (and kudos on bringing up Silicon Valley!). One thing I would point out though, Amazon does probe for Leadership Principles. Every interviewer is specifically assigned 2 LPs to get signals on. As a Bar Raiser those matter to me as much (or more) than raw technical skills (aka leetcode). Other companies like Google place a lot more weight on leetcode-ability and a lot less weight on LPs.
