Running load tests was not cheap. But the ROI was huge in several ways. One, it helped some teams identify and prevent issues that could have caused million of dollars in outages. Secondly, it helped some teams identify better configs (hardware or software) and save again millions in hardware. So all in all, we believed it was a good use of company money, but yeah, synthetically generating millions of transactions for test purposes ain't cheap!
